Hello dear readers!
The other day as I was volunteering at the Kansas Humane Society, I came across a few thoughts I wanted to share with you. One of my favorite things to do, is to work in the laundry room. I know that sounds silly but each towel I fold or blanket I wash goes to help an animal in need. While I was patiently waiting for the dryer to finish drying, I noticed a lonely little plastic box sitting underneath the counter. I pulled it out and noticed two tattered animal toys, some needles, and some thred. As a future Dr., I have always been facinated with learning how to stitch. So I pulled out a chair and began mending the bright and colorful toys. They were still good and still had plenty of love left to give.
As I began sewing, a thought crossed my mind. In one way or another, we're all a little broken. However, with a little mending we're still good!! It made me think of shelter animals. They're abandoned and maybe even a little bit broken. When someone comes and adopts them, they shine so brightly! It warms my heart to see smiling families adopting animals. For some family they're someone's "new" pet. Someone took the time to look at that animal and say, you've still got a lot of love left in you! You're not broken, you're beautiful! What a blessing that is. They're willing to do some mending and welcome a pet into their home. I'd also bet that the adopter receives a lot of mending in their heart from their pet too! We must learn as a community that broken things are still good! They're beautiful and not disposable. Once and awhile we may need a little repairing and that's okay!
I encourage you to spread some "paw"sitivity and show some love to the broken things in your life. Stay "Paw"sitive my friends!
Have a good day!
Sincerely,
Kayla Lowmiller
