Hello dear readers!
I'm taking a big breath and snuggling with my kitten Little Missy on this Monday evening. She is so soft and I love listening to her happy purrs! Its hard not to be positive next to Lil Missy. I have set down the school books and i'm taking a break. It feels good to do this for a short time each time I arrive home. I proudly juggle many things, yet I know how important it is to unwind.
I've been doing well in school and I attribute that to a lot of hard work and support from family. I'm happy to report that my dyslexia hasn't slowed me down a bit! Today my teachers have officially removed my IEP as a result of my good academics. I am both amazed and proud of myself for not letting my adversities define who I am as a person. I am reaching my goals and it feels great!
Many of my friends are surprised when I tell them that I am dyslexic. I often help them with homework and they take note of my good grades. Its not something that I share too often, because I am so much more than that. I have always pushed myself to read out loud or try to jump into oppourtunites for public speaking. The more I have practiced, the more my confidence has grown. I am proud of that.
I mentally prepare myself each day at school to focus and then come home and unwind like a cat after a long hard day. I brush off the stress and I stretch my arms out infront of me. I raise my arms high above my head and feel the pull in my shoulders. Stretching higher and higher and then dropping my arms back down to my side. Doing this relieves any tension and helps me unwind. I cover up with a soft fuzzy blanket and set my timer for 30 minutes. Just thirty minutes of "me time" really improves your productivity. You'd be amazed!
So today, I encourage you to stay positive and unwind like a cat this Monday. Create a space just for you to recharge. Find what makes you happiest and then take on the world!
Stay "Paw"sitive my friends! Till next time!
Sincerely,
Kayla
